- New greenhouse facility - Dümmen opens new greenhouse Las Mercedes, El Salvador

With great pride and high expectations, Dümmen is pleased to announce its latest greenhouse facility, “Las Mercedes.” Located in El Salvador, this state-of-the-art growing complex offers easy access to the North American Horticultural industry, demonstrating Dümmen’s strong commitment to its US and Canadian customers.

“We researched the location in detail to find the ideal growing climate for the highest quality cuttings: high light, low humidity and good temperatures. Also, the proximity to two major airports allows flexibility in efficiently shipping to US and Canadian customers, and for receiving our proprietary cultures from Europe,” stated General Manager Iris Schulz-Dümmen.

Phase One of 23 acres is under way with 250 workers onsite. The first motherplants will be planted Week 22/2009 and Dümmen is scheduled to ship cuttings starting Week 35/2009.
Phase Two, immediately underway, will add another 18 acres. The steel greenhouse structures at “Las Mercedes” are designed by Gunter Dümmen and imported from Europe.

“Las Mercedes” will follow Dümmen’s established hygienic standards for cutting production, and its talented staff of experienced growers and production managers will be instrumental in securing a superior start-up.

General Managers Iris Schulz-Dümmen and Simon Schulz lead the El Salvador team; both bring experience from Dümmen’s Canary Islands operation. Production Managers Olaf Kunert and Jörg Kolvenbach, who bring experience from Dümmen facilities in Ethiopia and El Salvador, supply additional leadership.
