GGG Young Plant Gruenewald revelled 70 years and invited to a plant baptize -

Gardeners of the future baptize plants of the future!
The vice-president of the European young gardeners Maria Palusalu from Estonia and Leonie Hoffmann from the “Wolbecker Modell” baptized the new breeding to the name “Cuphea Vienco”!
Theo Gruenewald welcomed more than 250 guests from Germany and foreign countries to the companies anniversary and the baptize of the new Plant.
70 years ago GGG was founded 1939 by Theo Gruenewald sen. and is today a leading supplier in the green market for bedding and balcony plants. Since the specialization on the production of high quality young plants for professional gardeners in 1973, a lot of products were created and are sold until today to about 5000 customers. Customers are located in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Benelux, France, Scandinavia, East European Countries, North America and Asia.
In now 70 years history the aim to convince companies and customers of the quality, innovation strength and potential of the whole product range was reached.
GGG products are mainly marketed via the headquarter in Selm. The foreign GGG companies, national and international sales agents, trading companies and GGG International GmbH, an oversea trading company, founded in 2003, sell the products in their particular sales territories. GGG products are distributed only via specialized horticulture companies. More than 85 employees work at the headquarter in Selm. GGG employs another 250 people in the companies in the Netherlands, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands, Kenya and Austria.
GGG trademarks offer certified brand quality from Gruenewald. Only proper, in laboratory tested plant material is labelled with the patented variety-, name- and brand label.
The highlight of the evening was the baptize of the Cuphea Vienco by young gardeners from all over Europe. 60 young gardeners from the horticulture school Räpina Estonia, St. Szumiec horticulture school Bielsko-Biala Poland, professional school for horticulture Rajhrad Czech Republic, horticulture school Langenlois Austria, horticulture school Niederlenz Switzerland, Lycée Technique Agricole Ettelbruck Luxembourg and the centre for education and training in the middle classes V.o.E. Belgium came to attend the unique event.
Unique is also the history of Cuphea Vienco, which was recited in turns by Maria Palusalu and Leonie Hoffmann. Furthermore one young gardener of each horticulture school gave a short summary about propagation, fertilization, substrate, climate, light and temperature conditions, growth regulator and possible diseases. For these introductions they got long lasting standing ovation.
Afterwards Johannes Peperhove, director of studies at the Wilhelm-Emmanuel-von-Ketteler-College in Münster and project manager of the “Wolbecker Modell’, explained the meaning of the invitation “gardeners of the future baptize plants of the future” and introduced innovative projects for the European horticulture. The young European gardeners meet every year for a congress, to get a better knowledge about the European horticulture. The consortium of the European horticulture teachers meet every year in another European country and see their priority task in motivating young people to go to foreign countries to gain experience.
Europe is opened and now committed teachers help to animate it. To reach this aim faster Johannes Peperhove created the European career competition for young gardeners in 2002 – an event on a high level. It takes place every two years and is organized next year for the fifth time, this time in Estonia.
Conspicuous were the 30 trainees of the “Wolbecker Modell”, which were accoutered from GGG Gruenewald with Polo-Shirts. They present the young elite of the horticulture, especially from Westphalia but also from Rhineland, they are active and powerful. They meet every four weeks freely on a Saturday and Sunday for eight hours lesson with top consultants to work out additional education lessons on a high level. Especially these students were interviewed about “Wolbecker Modell” over and over again that evening.
