A splendid new work written by Sandra Berriolo encompasses a great deal of research on Basil (Ocimum) providing an in-depth look at all aspects of this plant that readers could wish for. Ranging from varietal diversity and botanical classification to common names and superstitions to its historical utilization as culinary herb and medicine. The book also considers its cultivation and economy also as an important crop to the region of Liguria. But the text also considers all parts of the world and puts Basil in a truly global context.
