Fargro Limited introduce the new Vipot range of pots manufactured in China from rice husks. The husks are ground up, heated and compressed. In the process a resin like sheen results, coating the outside of the pots which makes them water resistance and more attracative. The pots will be first available in November 2003 in 9cm (9F-full and 9C-half or continental) and 1 and 2 litre sizes. Colours will be: natural, terracotta and green. The pots are light weight, rigid, with a thickness of 2mm (9cm pot) and perfectly suited to machine processing. The useable life-span of the pots is about 3 years. While this bio-plastic is fully degradable, first it needs to be broken into small pieces. It will then natuarlly bio-degrade made faster under higher temperatures reached in natural composting.
