'Miss Lucy' is the name given to the first double-flowered Oriental Lilium from Hoff Quality for cut-flower production. This comes some time after the double flowered Asiatic varieties 'Aphrodite' and 'Sphinx'. In effect pollen has been turned into petals. While double Asiatics have a much prolongued vase-life over normal varieties, the flowers can have trouuble opening on water when sold as cut-flowers

although some operators say that this problem has been overcome. At all events, they make excellent garden varieties where the flowers are very long lasting. 'Sphinx' is said to be the deepest red colour of all Asiatics.
