Dümmen have gained the leading position in supplying Poinsettia young plants to growers in Italy. This success is partly due to the variety 'Premium'® Red which has proved extremely popular. Italian agent Bruno Santacroce says that after the stress of summer, plants start growing again very well and fast. The variety branches well with regular growth. It requires no growth regulators or at least they are optional. While the variety with red bracts accounts for 70% of total sales of the Premium® series, there are several other colours all with the same growth and production characateristics so that they can be grown along side each other: Hot Pink, Picasso (splashed red/pink), Lipstick Pink, Apricot, White and Marble. After Premium, Euroglory Red and Infinity Red are the best performing varieties. Euroglory is a strong, stable variety resistant to Botrytis. It also travels well. Infinity Red is considered the next evolutionary step after Malibu with medium vigour and V-shaped growth - good for sleeving. Twister Red, now joined by a sister Apricot variety is just one of many specialist varieties. Plants produce crimpy bracts with an attractive cyanthia and they grow to from compact to moderate sized plants. Joker has a unique red and white colour splash.
