OLYMPIC RECORD FOR THE INTERNATIONAL ORNAMENTAL INDUSTRY

 

 

A record-breaking resolution was passed during the 35th Fleuroselect Annual Convention held in the Olympic capital of Lausanne, Switzerland from 19th to 21st August 2004. 143 representatives from the international ornamental plants industry voted to recognise one organisation as the official meeting platform and representative body for the international ornamental industry. Fleuroselect currently represents 55% of the industry and will co-operate with other ornamental organisations in order to augment its existing services.

 

It is notable that the venue of this groundbreaking decision was the Olympic Museum Auditorium and that the timing coincided with the Olympic Games in Greece. Whilst the Olympic spirit requires that participants gather together to contribute towards a better world through fair play and solidarity, Fleuroselect members are united in their determination to work together towards the betterment of the entire ornamental industry.

 

Fleuroselect’s key activities include the testing, protecting and promoting of novelties. These services effectively stimulate the breeding of innovative ornamentals and encourage the general use of flowers.
