| A new series of pot Dianthus called TOPINPOT® has been introduced by carnation breeder Massimo Baratta of La Florovivaistica Baratta, Liguria, Italy. The series is made up of 15 varieties that covers a wide range of single colours (white, yellow, pink, red, cremise, violet) as well as some highly innovative and strongly marked colour combinations (yellow/red, white/violet and orange/red). Of particular note to growers is the fact that these varieties are genetically dwarf and do not require plant growth regulators. All varieties in the series flower continuously so that the final client is assured of plants that continue to flower throughout the whole year, given the minimum climatic parameters. Plants of TOPINPOT® are normally cultivated in a 10cm diameter pot but some varieties are a little more vigorous and can also be grown in 14cm pots. The production cycle is about 13-16 weeks according to the area of production (climate). La Florovivaistica Baratta is able to supply rooted cuttings from July onwards each year.
