A list of some of the new varieties introduced at the 2004 edition of the TPIE exhibition together with contact details. Alocasia ‘Mark Campbell’ is a large leafed variety. The new foliage is extremely striking; irridescent black with silver veins. Mature foliage is black-green with silver veins. Impressive nearly round black leaves (irridescent eggplant purple). Hybridized by David Fell from Hawaiian Sunshine Nursery from a A. loweii ‘Grandis’ x ‘Nobilis’ cross. Mature Height: 60-90cm for 20-35cm pots. The variety ‘Purple Prince’ of Curculigo purpurea has an erect growth habit with leaves that can reach a length of 45-60cm and a width of 10-12cm. Leaves are also suitable as a cut-foliage crop. The top side of the leaf is a shiny dark green and the underside is burgundy. Potentially a good new addition for interior landscaping. Plants produce small flowers at the base of the petiole. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis ‘Aztec Sun’ is a naturally low-growing variety that flowers heavily throughout the year in Florida. Bred by Curt Sinclair, it has unique arrow-shaped leaves.
