Identifying perennials | |
The Reference Garden of Naktuinbouw (Dutch Inspection Service for Horticulture) at Roelofarendsveen, currently conbtains a collection of 1.900 different species and cultivars that will be expanded to 3.000 by 2010, financed by the Horticultural Product Board of the Netherlands. Naktuinbouw aims to become the major reference for true breeding perennial cultivars with correct labelling of Mother plants also to serve as a basis for propagation of plants of which the identity is known. All the species and cultivars will be described and published on PlantScope®, the internet database. Recently the Naktuinbouw certified as correctly identified the submission of 1.250 perennials for checking. The garden is open for professionals every second Wednesday of the month from 13.00 hours. Visitors will be able to increase their knowledge, share information, expand their network and see which plants really represent the cultivars. “FlowerTech” www.HortiWorld.com www.naktuinbouw.nl |
