Plant’ables™; biodegradable pots from chicken feathers
 


Moving away from plastics. A new patented biodegradable material consists of recycled chicken feathers from which a range of pots have been produced by Capatex under the name Plant’ables™. The material is naturally hydrophobic reducing water usage and contains 10% slow release nitrogen. Apart from being utilized a pot/container, the product can be labelled as a fertilizer and soil amendment because of the natural organic matter it adds to the soil on decomposition.
