F1 Dianthus barbatus ‘Sweet’

The new ‘Sweet’ series from PanAmerican Seed provides professional cutflower growers with varieties in separate colours which require no vernalization. The first year-flowering plants are very uniform for height and flowering time. Field-grown plants reach 45 to 90 cm, with taller growth possible from early greenhouse grown plants transplanted in the Autumn. ‘Sweet’ produces large, very fragrant, long-lasting blooms on straight, strong stems which do not need staking.

These charcateristics make Dianthus barbatus ‘Sweet’ a versatile plant for use in professional landscaping and bedding as well as the garden (plants have good frost and heat tolerance) and as a cutflower. It makes an excellent bouquet filler item for florists. Varieties in the ‘Sweet’ series are: Coral, Purple, Red, White.

Plants produce a large number of stems with good basal branching. Plant growth regulators are not required if plants are grown for cut-flowers. If grown as pot plants, a foliar spray of Bonzi at 6 ppm should be applied during the early stage of growth. For more information contact PanAmerican Seed. Fax 001 630 231 3609 www.PanAmSeed.com
