Elegant perfumed bouquets of roses

Probably one of the most significant developments in cut-flowers roses in recent times is the development by David Austin Roses of a range of varieties of perfumed old-English varieties for use as cut-flowers. Fragrance and charm has been added to rose bouquets and David Austin Roses is currently maximizing commercial possibilities by selling ready-made bouquets on-line (and through a well known multiple store in the UK). The novelty is demanding high prices but is creating a big new demand. While the vase life of these roses tends to be shorter than in ordinary types from modern breeding, the visual effect and perfume more than makes up for this disadvantage. Varieties are named: Portia (light salmon), Oberon (red-mauve), Juliet (orange) and Olivia (red-purple). The on-line bouquets are offered as single colours (varieties) or as mixes of Olivia and Oberon, Juliet and Portia, Olivia and Portia. Flowers open gradually from tight buds to reveal spectacular, full-petalled blooms and delicious fragrance.
