| A new range of perfumed cut-flower roses 2005 | |
| The new Nirp varieties Eudora®, Pink Eudora®, Sunny Eudora® e Royal Eudora® form the so-called range “Le Profumatissime”. A spokesman for Nirp explains that the production characateristics of this series roses are the same as for commercially selected cut-flower varieties. Other scented varieties have been slected from garden roses. The professional market can finally have a range of perfumed cut-flower roses (large flower hybrid tea) that ensure a vase-life of at least 8 days from harvest. This can cause disappointment to retailers if the flowers are too open on delivery. The logistics chain from grower to retailer must be quick for these varieties. The retailer must also realize that the series “Le Profumatissime” is not a product for the mass market. Instead it represents an ‘Elite’ product with distinct and prestigious characteristics for the consumer. For this motive, a premium price is charged for a unique product sought by the discerning customer. With regard to the production cycle, harvest and packaging, the new series presents no substantial differences to the classic rose varieties.
