Argyranthemum frutescens ‘Molimba Mini White’ from Syngenta Seeds is a compact bushy variety that flowers continuously throughout the summer. The plant’s silver grey foliage does not yellow. Plants grow to a height and spread of 25 x 45cm and produce 3cm diameter white flowers with yellow heart. There is no requirement for pinching or for growth regulators. Petunia ‘Viva Fluor-Rose 2006’ from Florensis is a new Petunia variety highly judged for its flexibile use. The semi-training variety performs equally well in outdoor flowerbeds, containers and tubs as it does in pots and hanging baskets. It is early flowering (12 weeks after taking cuttings) producing lots of 7cm diamter lilac pink flowers. Plant height and spread is 25 x 60cm and plants will flower from May through to mid October. Lavandula angustifolia ‘Elegance Sky’ from Keift Seeds is a seed raised diploid variety that flowers in the first year after sowing. Flowering is uniform intense with light violet blue spikes. It is ideal as a bedding plant, in pots or containers where it will flower from June through to September/October. Plants reach a height and spread of 30 x 25cm. Prunella grandiflora is a perennial now available for the first time as a plant that flowers in the first year after sowing in the form of the new series ‘Freelander’ from Clause Tézier. The series includes colours: pink, blue and white mixed. It is grown as a bedding plant and will reach a height and spread of 15 x 15cm. Growth regulators are not required. The 36° Annual Fleuroselect Convention will be held by Italian flower breeder FARMEN from 30th June to 3rd July at Sorrento. The event includes a visit to the flower trials at Sarno at the floor of Mount Vesuvio. Geographically the most southerly situated of Fleuroselect’s 30 trial grounds it provides both the breeders and their customers with information on the performance of new varieties in a Mediterranean climate. Farmen Srl has received a 2005 Quality Award from Fleuroselect for their multiflora Petunia hybrid ‘Mini Bella Burgundy Imp’, an early flowering compact variety, very resistant to warner climates and free flowering. The Award was also given to their new variety ‘Nuvolari’ a spreading type with a new colour. The Company won a Quality Award 2004 for their F1 grandiflora Petunia ‘Limoncello’ with golden yellow flowers.
