Plantarium 2005 Best Novelties: Verbascum "Rosie"

Verbascum ‘Rosie’ is the Best Novelty at Plantarium 2005. The jury considered this plant, which was cultivated by Boskoop bed plant grower Rijnbeek en Zoon BV, to be both innovative and excellently presented. In addition to ‘Rosie’, the jury also awarded gold medals to three other entrants. Sixteen plants won silver and seventeen won bronze medals. The winners were selected from a total of eight-nine entries in the novelties category.

A flawless presentation of an innovative product: This is the golden formula for the Best Novelty, and Verbascum ‘Rosie’ by Rijnbeek en Zoon BV fully complies with those criteria. The lovely colour of the flowers, combined with the compact, low growth pattern, makes this plant unique. In addition to the inherent qualities of the plant itself, the presentation of this visually attractive product was also quite sublime.

Gold

Clematis Container Nursery from Pruszkow in Poland won two gold medals with Clematis ‘Jerzy Popiełuszko’ and Clematis ‘Lech Wałęsa’. The former stood out thanks to its pure white flowers and robust growth. The outstanding characteristics of ‘Lech Wałęsa’ were the exceptionally large flowers and unique pale purple colour.
