The eagle flaps its fledgling wings

The next edition of the IPM trade exhibition will take place at the Messe-Essen, Germany, 2-5 February 2006. About 1.400 exhibitors (77 direct exhibitors just from Italy) are expected from 41 different countries. This very important international show brings together the technical production sector of floricultural and nursery-stock production with a very big display of retail trends and ideas in all their forms. These both reflect trends in life-styles and create them. New construction work at a cost of €7.2 million on the second part of the Gallery will facilitate access and create more exhibition space. A plethora of promotional slogans (sometinmes confusing) are created for each edition that also reflect the different sectors and the importance of the German consumer market for ornamental horticultural products internationally. The International Forum on ornamental horticulture in Eastern Europe will promote this geographical area following last year’s success. For the first time IPM 2006 can also flap its fledgling wings; the IPM-Cina, just passed (1-3 December at Chencun World of Flowers, Southern China, attracted over 200 exhibitors). Still to come is IPM-Dubai that will take place 14-16 March 2006. In the fast growing and very wealthy Middle East market, the whole range of ornamental horticultural products and skills are in demand, from cut-flowers to garden design and construction. With the recent establishment of the Dubai Flower Center, IPM-Dubai is certain to meet with great success. With the all-inclusive servive for exhibitors, IPM-China and IPM-Dubai offer an important support for the internationalization of European ornamental horticultural and landscaping industry.
