At the Hortus Hungaricus trade exhibition 2005, near Budapest, Dr. Orlóczi László, grower and breeder together with Meszaros Melinda of the Company Fenyökert Díszfaiskola presented an interesting range of novel nursery-stock varieties. A selection of a mutation of Sambucus nigra ‘Pulverulenta’ has strongly variegated leaves. Other interesting varieties include: Salix matsudana ‘Tarkabarka’ with yellow/green variegated leaves and branches. Juniperus deppeana ‘twisted Apache’ is a compact heat resistant (heat and cold) variety with grey-blue foliage on slightly twisted stems. On the same theme, Thuja occidentalis ‘Strasbourg’ shows an attractive spital growth with good deep green winter colour. Wisteria floribunda ‘Variegata’ is a novel variety for our gardens, producing variegated leaves and two-tone lavendar-blue flower colour. Betula pendula ‘Karaca’ has a weeping habit with fine delicately indented leaves. Fenyökert Díszfaiskola is partner of the nursery and landscape Company Kiss Kertész Duóket. Both are located south of Budapest. Contact Dr. Orlóczi László on: orloci@yahoo.com www.tar.hu/fenyokert/index_ex.html and the partner Company: info@kisskerteszduo.hu www.kisskerteszduo.hu |
