2006 novelties part 2

Ernst
Benary Samenzucht GmbH from Hann. Münden, Germany, presents three novelties
at Plantarium 2006. All plants were produced by Benary.
Begonia
'Jolly' (Tuberhybrida) is a cross between a wild tuber begonia and a cultivated one.
The plant has a round upright habitus with a height of 25 cm. The leaves are
round and are bright green, dark green or brown, depending on the colour of the
flowers. The flowers are 3 cm in diameter and are apricot, scarlet or red.
'Jolly' was named this year and is now also on the market in limited
quantities. The breeder's rights have been applied for. 'Jolly' is a
long-flowering plant suitable for terrace and balcony.
Astilbe
'Astary' (Arendsii Group) is an upright plant about 25-30 cm in height. Its leaves are
finger-shaped and dark green in colour. The large flowers have a diameter of 10
cm. The colours in which the flowers of this plant, grown from seed, are available
are white, dark pink and bright pink. 'Astary' flowers as early as its first
year. The plant was named this year and put on the market. It is available in
limited quantities.
Eryngium
planum 'Blue Hobbit' is an upright plant which forms rosettes and reaches a height of
just 30-35 cm; the plant is intended to be planted in an ornamental pot. The
leaf is spoon-shaped and is green. Several light blue 2 cm flowers grow from
the short stem. 'Blue Hobbit' was named this year and has now also been put on
the market. It is available in limited quantities.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Zorro'

present the Hydrangea macrophylla 'Zorro' at Plantarium 2006.
The
'Zorro' is a ray floret bloomer (Teller variety) in a pink and a bluish
variant.
