Good year for the Royal Horticultural Society
 
The net income for the RHS in the accounting year 2005/2006 was £5.4 million, the best financial result in the Society’s history. Making up the total income of £17.3, membership fees contributed 43%, trading and sponsorship 32%, Shows 5%, legacies and donations 12%. Expenses totalled £11.9 million of which 66% was take by the gardens and 32% by science and learning. In 2005 more than 1 million people visited the RHS garden and flower shows and another 1 million people followed these events in no less than 17 hours of television coverage. The subscription of the Society’s magazine “The Garden” was 352,735 in 2005. Spectacular growth was seen in the Society’s website. In the period 2005/2006 there were 6,784,657 visits to the website (up 77% on previous year). The average length of the visits was 13 minutes and a total of 37,795,598 pages were reviewed.
