A booklet entitled “Viburnum” has been realized through the collaboration between Fondazione Minoprio and Vivai Nord with the financial support of the Rural Development Plan for the Region of Lombardy 2000-2006. As a genus, Viburnum is not well known by Italian growers and yet many of its species and cultivars are in general adapted to Italian climates. The illustrated work of 59 pages contains botanical description of species, varieties and hybrids together with detail on plant form and other characteristics. The booklet is dedicated to technical operators, teachers, students and growers. The good news is that Vivai Nord is also working on a companion volume on conifers to its previously published book (1999) on deciduous trees and shrubs “Raccolta descrittiva di alberi e arbusti”. Vivai Nord, located at Lurago d’Erba in northern Italy is a specialist grower of Viburnum and lists no fewer than 103 species and cultivars. New this year id Viburnum tinus ‘Spirit’ (V.t. ‘Anvi’).
