Terra Nigra’s new ‘Gerrondo’ series of ball-shaped Gerbera provides growers with a distinct new series that is destined to prove popular with consumers. The series was recently nominated as a successful introduction at FlorHolland 2007 after being awareded the title of best new introduction in 2006. The very large number of petals of the double flowers are recurved downwards giving depth and creating the impression of an almost globular flower. A rapidly increasing interest from florists is expected. There are currently eight varieties in the series: Terra Mars® (red), Terra Jupiter® (light salmon/cream), Terra. Mercurium® (white), Terra Moon® (light salmon pink), Terra Pluto® (Orange red), Terera Sol® (yellow), Terra Saturnus® (rose-pink), Terra Venus® (purple). Flowers are of a medium 7-8cm diameter and stems around 60cm in length. Stems of Terra Mars and T. Moon tend to be slightly longer at 65cm and those of T. Sol, slightly shorter. Productivity in soilless cultivation with/without artificial light, ranges from 300-400stems/m2. Vase-life is on average about 14-18 days. In varieties T. Moon®, T. Sol® and T. Saturnus®, flowers have a slightly green centre. Terra Nigra BV. Fax 0031 297 368853, E-mail: info@terranigra.com, www.terranigra.com |
