Intermediary organisation FloraHolland Connect starts

Aalsmeer/Naaldwijk, 19 December 2007 – The intermediary organisation of the new FloraHolland starts work on January 1, 2008 under the name of FloraHolland Connect.
The intermediary organisations of both auctions have been merged into FloraHolland Connect. It is one of the sales instruments - all perfectly geared to one another in close collaboration – of the new auction organisation. Together with the (virtual) clock, FloraHolland Connect ensures that products of the members of the cooperative are sold completely at all auction locations.
The international name, coupled with the name and brand of FloraHolland, emphasises the goal: by offering its services as an intermediary, the auction actively links growers, buyers and their customers in the ornamental flower and plant industry together. A lasting commercial relationship that leads to good returns and a good market position for both growers and customers is the abiding principle in this.
Choice of services
Suppliers and buyers of ornamental flowers and plants can turn to FloraHolland Connect for mediation and sales in supply and demand at short term (daily basis) or longer term.
The new intermediary organisation provides all growers with a comprehensive package of services to support sales.
Growers can choose at FloraHolland Connect from a basic package, a service package and customised services. FloraHolland Connect offers suppliers who have their own sales instruments a very efficient basic package at attractive rates. Payments, payment guarantees, administrative and reactive mediation are part of this basic package.
Suppliers who in addition to demand-based mediation also wish to make use of pro-active sales, knowledge and advice on supply and market developments, (product) promotion services and presentations opt for the Service package.
The extra services involved in customised services that growers can use (such as personal sales, individual commercial tailor-made services, company promotion at trade fairs and quality guidance) puts growers in the best position in the market.
FloraHolland Connect also develops services to make it more attractive to direct streams of products from outside the European Union that at this point don’t move via the FloraHolland market places yet. The objective here is to strengthen the position of The Netherlands as well as of the growers affiliated with the auction on the world market.
The new intermediary organisation contributes to greater efficiency in the chain and puts an end to unproductive competition between auctions.

FloraHolland Connect is a business section employing 250 people who are ready for growers and customers as close to the market as possible at the seven locations of FloraHolland in the Netherlands (Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk, Rijnsburg, Venlo, Bleiswijk, Eelde and Boskoop).

About the merged combination FloraHolland
The merger of Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer and FloraHolland will become official on January 1, 2008. The new cooperative called FloraHolland offers growers and customers a network of six auction locations (Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk, Rijnsburg, Bleiswijk, Venlo and Eelde), one nationally operating intermediary office and a centrally controlled Import department. The merged organisation boasts annual sales of EUR 4 billion.
