Beekenkamp and Florema join forces
 

The Beekenkamp Group, based in Maasdijk The Netherlands and Florema, based in Amstelveen, The Netherlands have signed an intention agreement in which both parties agree to join their activities as from September 2008. Florema will than become part of the Beekenkamp Group.

The Beekenkamp Group comprises: Beekenkamp Plants, Deliflor Chrysanthemum and Beekenkamp Verpakkingen. Beekenkamp is a leading company in the field of breeding, production and sales of young vegetable, ornamental and cut chrysanthemum plants and in the field of design, manufacturing and sales of hard plastic packaging products.

Florema includes: Florema Young Plants and Aartsen Young plants and is a leading breeder, producer and supplier of young plants from Begonia, Cyclamen, Impatiens N.G., Poinsettia, bedding plants and perennials.

The activities of both companies are very much complementary to each other, which will strengthen the market position. Beekenkamp Plants Ornamental division has a particularly strong assortment in ornamental plants from seeds and from cuttings. Floremas assortment is a perfect extension in the cutting segment.

Beekenkamp sales is particularly strong in the Netherlands notably the Westland area. Florema is particularly strong in the Aalsmeer area as well as in export. There are foreign sales offices in France, Switzerland, Brasil, Colombia, Japan and USA.

In the Netherlands Beekenkamp and Florema have production facilities in Maasdijk, Lutjebroek, Amstelveen and Harderwijk as well as foreign production locations in France, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Brasil.

The two organisations have about 350 employees in The Netherlands and over 1000 abroad.

Both companies have each a long and strong reputation regarding quality and services. The joint forces of both companies enable the strengthening and extension of the international strategic position in the ornamental market of starting material.
