| The yellow rose of Rotterdam conquers the world: Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister officially names Zonta rose at international congress |

| FLORAHOLLAND AALSMEER, 30 June 2008 (press release) – The 59th Zonta International Convention formed the backdrop on Saturday 28 June for the naming of a brand new rose. Along with International Zonta President Olivia Ferry, Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria van der Hoeven named the Zonta+ rose at the Rotterdam Doelen Concert and Congress Center. The naming took place during the opening ceremony of this international women's convention in the presence of two thousand women from as many as 67 countries. The yellow Zonta+ cut flower is now set to leave Rotterdam and conquer the world. Zonta International is a global service and network organization, affiliated as an NGO to the United Nations and the Council of Europe. The organization, with 35,000 highly educated women members worldwide, campaigns for women from a range of different cultures. The convention in Rotterdam is the largest women's conference ever held in the Netherlands. |
