F1 Helianthus annus ‘Tiffany’ as a cut-flower crop

This variety was bred by K. Sahin, Zaden BV for the proessional production of cut-flowers either as an outdoor summer crop or as a winter crop under glass at 12°C (it cannot be grown in short days and cold temperatures outdoors). It flowers in about 55 days after sowing as a summer crop and after 66 days as a winter crop given adequate light. Plants grw to 80-120cm tall producing bright orange flowers with dark discs. The short rounded petals are arranged to form a firm tidy flower head more resistant to mechanical damage during transport. The Company claims that Tiffany’ is shorter and earlier than ‘Full Sun’ and compared to ‘Elite Sun’ it has a deeper orange colour and is more resistant to transport. It is earlier and has bigger flowers than ‘Sunrich Orange’. www.sahin.nl E-mail: Pbridgers@sahin.nl
