For the 40th time, achievement awards for excellence in Breeding, the Fleuroselect Gold Medals were presented during the annual gala dinner to:
Jean-François Ignasse of Ball Horticultural Co., U.S.A. for the first commercial yellow Gallardia from seed, Gaillardia x grandiflora 'Mesa Yellow' bred by Jian Ping Ren in Chicago.
Gerald Raser of Ernst Benary Samenzucht, Germany and Austria for his breeding achievement the sensational, summer container plant Physostegia virginiana 'Crystal Peak White'.
Hugo Dittmar of Dittmar Samen und Pflanzen, Switzerland for his breeding breakthrough, Sanvitalia x speciosa 'Million Suns' a compact carpet of colour shining out the whole summer.
