Growth for Groen-Direkt

Groen-Direkt ended the Najaarsbeurs (Autumn Fair) in the last week of August with a total score of even more trolleys than last year. And that’s not including the substantial increase in the sales of Christmas trees. Considering the current economic state, the commercial enterprise based in the Dutch town of Boskoop is very satisfied.

After two years the company has moreover been granted permission to set up tents at its site. This means that lack of space will no longer be a limiting factor in Groen-Direkt’s growth.

Groen-Direkt expects to be able to organise the next Spring Fair at its own premises in Boskoop-Oost, thanks to its now obtained permission to erect tents covering a total area of 8000 m2. The permit was granted in August. The tents will also be used to ensure smooth management of the intensive logistics in the spring season. This will imply benefits for suppliers and customers, and in terms of the number of transport movements.
PCT site
Because of its limited amount of space, Groen-Direkt has been deliberately holding back its growth so as to be able to keep the quality of its products and services at a constantly high level. The tents imply new logistic opportunities, offering the sample fair’s organisers a chance to grow. Permits are only granted for temporary tents if a definitive solution is in sight. Although Groen-Direkt has not yet finalised its building plans, its prospects for the future are evidently considered feasible and positive. The plans focus on the PCT site, next to the Hazerswoude/Boskoop ITC site.

Christmas trees
To ensure a constant annual distribution of labour, Groen-Direkt Boskoop began selling Christmas trees on a large scale in 2008. Now, in 2009, we have a full year’s experience with the various aspects of the sale of Christmas trees. Presales started at the Autumn Fair. Sales during the three days of the fair were overwhelming. Partly thanks to these great sales in Christmas trees, Groen-Direkt will now and in the future be able to make efficient use of its administrative and logistic apparatuses all year round.
