First nominees announced for the 'Glazen Tulp 2010'
 

FLORAHOLLAND, 15 October 2009 – During the FloraHolland Trade Fair Aalsmeer, the first eight products nominated for the FloraHolland Award ‘De Glazen Tulp 2010’ were announced.General Director Timo Huges made the announcement on the Novelty Plaza in the Expo.There were more than sixty new plants, flowers and concepts being presented on this plaza.The nominated products are the best introductions from the past six months. 

A professional jury, which consisted of Cok van Berkel (Noviflora), Olivier Mathys (Javado), Ed Mol (Waterdrinker), Lucas Jansen (Flower Academy) and Heleen Valstar (arranger), assessed the products and nominated two per category for ‘De Glazen Tulp’.
 
Nominees in the category ‘cut flowers’ are:
Hydrangea Papillon – cultivated by Hydraflower 
Asclepias Amalia – cultivated by N.J.S. Janson  
 
Nominees in the category ‘houseplants’ are:
Alocasia Black Magic - Kwekerij J. de Groot                                         
Chirita ‘Chastity’ - Mts. K. de Redelijkheid       
 
Nominees in the category ‘garden plants’ are:
Campanula SWEET MEE ® - Fairytale Flowers    
Tasty Bonsai - Jac. V.v. Hoeven Boomkwekerij 
 
Nominees in the category ‘concepts’ are:
Puur Aroma - Vaste Plantenkwekerij Radder
Mangrove-concept Blue Lagoon – Grower of potted plants Sjaloom
 
‘De Glazen Tulp’ is awarded once a year to the year’s most successful product introductions.The next eight products will be nominated in March 2010, during the FloraHolland Trade Fair Naaldwijk. In addition, a wildcard will be nominated in each category.In total, a maximum of five products in each category will compete for the prestigious Award.In spring 2010 a jury will assess the usefulness and added value of the nominated products to the consumer.
