Hishtil's breeders Rights infringed? | |
Suspicion: Italian propagators and growers violating breeders' rights granted to Hishtil, distributing protected Lavender varieties. Hishtil, the Israeli leading nursery started an investigation with the intention of filing law suits against elements in the Italian ornamentals industry that have unlawfully propagated protected Lavender varieties.
The suspected elements have allegedly sold millions of plants without royalty payment to Hishtil.
Marketing manager of Hishtil, Menni Shadmi has said that seemingly the Italian nurseries have distributed millions of plants of the protected Lavender Madrid series in markets all over Europe causing severe financial losses to Hishtil.
Mr. Shadmi said that Hishtil is determined to defend her rights and will use all legal means to protect her properties. Protection of breeders' rights is a fundamental factor for the entire industry worldwide.
Madrid series comprised of three legally registered and protected varieties in flower colors of Purple, White and Pink. Bred by the Australian breeder John Robb, Madrid is considered a market leader for its great pot and garden performance.
