Schoneveld Knowledge Seminar bursting with expertise and quality! | |
In October Schoneveld Twello celebrated its 75th anniversary! In the past 75 years Schoneveld has always beaten out its own path where exclusivity, promotion and renewal are concerned. Once again, this was reflected in the way Schoneveld chose to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
Because of the current economic circumstances, not an extravagant celebration, but Schoneveld grasped this opportunity to discuss the issues and share expertise that contribute added-value to all the links in the chain. Schoneveld organised the Profitable Inspiration Seminar.
This attracted a diverse range of international guests from all links in the green sector, from local administrators, growers, suppliers, to young plants growers from the Netherlands, Europe and beyond.
And surely Schoneveld had found a success formula, the many guests from abroad made it clear that this theme, knowledge, is being discussed widely, and at a global level too.
Peter van de Pol, owner and managing director of Schoneveld, opened the seminar by emphasising the importance of expertise through the saying “knowledge is power”. However, only having knowledge is not power, according to Peter van de Pol. It is sharing knowledge and expertise that makes the process manageable, so that each link in the chain, from breeder to commercial trader can work with a profitable product in a healthy business.
In her address, Marijke van Haaren, spokesperson for economic affairs in the province of Gelderland, went a step further: “sharing knowledge is multiplying knowledge”. Through networks and bringing all stakeholders together, which certainly happened at this very successful and professional meeting, knowledge can be shared and thus expanded.
The seminar programme was designed to appeal internationally and to the whole chain. Themes such as energy, cultivation, education and marketing are universal. Enthusiastic speakers with clear, sometimes contradictory opinions discussed various issues where those in the audience could offer supporting arguments for the one or the other.
The comments from the seminar participants were overwhelming, the organisation and quality of the various sessions were exceedingly high, according to many. By making propositions about the various issues and by explaining these extensively, many discussions arose under the participants. It became clear that the knowledge of each link in the chain has considerable added-value for the whole segment.
This event has certainly initiated “Profitable Inspiration”. During the day participants had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge, wonder at speculations, assume new opinions, make new acquaintances, discuss, gain new insights, and all this gave them plenty of food for thought for the journey home.
