Selecta presents its 2010 novelties at the IPM in Essen

Trixi® - this means three varieties of one species in only one young plant! The result is a high-quality and colourful product in a perfect colour mixture – from the beginning!

The Trixi® young plants are delivered pinched or not pinched in a 3.5 cm pot in a 84 cm tray. From calendar week 45 on, the customers will receive wonderful Trixi® combinations of the species Calibrachoa, Verbena, Lobelia and Portulaca. It goes without saying that also our URC customers can order our Trixi® combinations on demand.

We only use successfully tested, very homogenous varieties which meet the high demands of storage and transport efficiency and have long shelf-life. All Trixi® varieties flower throughout the summer and autumn – a basis for a persistent and vigorous product from the first day on.

Planted in a pot, in a flower box or in a hanging basket: the result will be convincing anyway. The colourful eye-catcher automatically attract the customers interest and are easily sold without special advice.

For sales promotion purposes, we offer a POS-package including advertising material: an attractive information brochure, printed pots, a poster and printed adhesive tape. This additional value of the Trixi® combinations will also have a positive effect on the price level.

the Calibrachoa combinations Trixi® Bubblegum, a real eye-catcher with 3 varieties of our MiniFamous® line, Trixi® Lollipop, the famous mixture of 3 luminous colours, which feels like summer, Trixi® Tricolore in precious, clear colours and Trixi® Pastel, a very harmonic combination of 3 tender colours.

Moreover, the assortment contains 4 combinations of the species Verbena: Trixi® Dolce Vita, a glorious combination of 3 varieties of our Lascar® series with different foliage, Trixi® Belle Epoque, an early-fowering composition with clear and classic colours, Trixi® La Bohème of 3 different varieties of our Fuego® line with very high resistance against mildew and Trixi® Wild Berries, a “fruity-fresh“ eye-catcher of 3 varieties of the Lascar® series in amazing berry colour shades which are early flowering and have an impressive distant effect.

The Portulaca combinations Trixi® Alibaba and Trixi® Sindbad have a very nice performance as pot plants and are perfectly suitable for sunny and warm places.

Furthermore, the Trixi® program presents the top modern Lobelia combination Trixi® Fashion of 3 different durable Lobelia varieties which perfectly mix.

Since the last season, Selecta has been producing all Poinsettia cuttings in Uganda. The excellent conditions thanks to stable temperatures throughout the year are ideal for Poinsettia cultivation and guarantee first class cuttings and a perfect basis for young plants of highest quality.

Our famous and best-selling Christmas Feelings® family was enlarged by two new and one improved variety. These varieties fit into the same cultivation scheme as all other varieties of this family. Christmas Feelings® Dark Salmon has wonderful, striking bracts of dark salmon colour. The variety Christmas Feelings® Cinnamon evol. was enhanced and now fits even better to the other varieties of the series. A new and exciting variety is Christmas Feelings® Fantasy with red spots on cinnamon coloured bracts.

With the novelties Christmas Day, Noel and Christmas Beauty we enlarge our assortment by three very nice red varieties:

Christmas Day is a very energy-efficient variety of high quality which is very suitable for the main season with very nice, big bracts of deep, dark red colour with big cyathias and very good branching habit. This uncomplicated variety can be used for different pot sizes and product forms.

With its medium growth habit, the very good branching and the regular, v-shaped growth, Noel is the perfect choice for first-class plants. The big, expressive, intensive red bracts particularly suitable for heavy quality products.

Christmas Beauty combines the positive characteristics of a medium early variety and can be cultivated very space-saving. The plants have very attractive, medium-sized red bracts, and V-shaped growth with round habit and thick and compact stems.

Due to its compact growth, Christmas Beauty is very uncomplicated and can be cultivated economically, however, it should be potted early. The variety has dark green foliage and an excellent branching habit. Moreover, Christmas Beauty shows very good storage qualities.

Further novelties are Citronella in a fresh yellow, the intensive, bicoloured variety Marbella as well as Merry White convincing with its big, pure white bracts.

As the leading breeder of Osteospermum we have enlarged the colour range of the FlowerPower® line by a row of first-class varieties in wonderful colours. New introductions within the compact varieties are the white varieties Compact FlowerPower® Creme and Compact FlowerPower® White evol. Our Deluxe FlowerPower®series with varieties in extraordinary colours and forms was extended by 5 new spectacular varieties: FlowerPower® Plum evol., FlowerPower® Yellow and White, FlowerPower® Milky Way, FlowerPower® Copper Amethyst and FlowerPower® Copper Purple.

Within our dark leaved zonal series Moonlight® we introduce the compact variety Moonlight® Amelie with early flowering in wonderful pink. Another novelty of this series is Moonlight® Loki in a deep salmon colour, also compact growing and early flowering.

Our green leaved, rich flowering zonal series Sunrise® was enlarged by two varieties: Sunrise® Paloma with big pure white flowers and medium growth and Sunrise® Marit, an eye-catcher with its light salmon flowers showing medium growth habit. Our premium assortment Sunrise® XL has been completed by the bright red variety Sunrise® XL Leon and now presents 8 varieties in brilliant colours.

Even four new varieties enrich the present Selecta pot carnation program: SuperTrouper® Oscar Light Pink, SuperTrouper® Romy, SuperTrouper® Sammy and SuperTrouper® Lucy.

The variety SuperTrouper® Oscar Light Pink is a real mutation of SuperTrouper® Oscar with all its positive characteristics and a light pink colour.

SuperTrouper® Romy shows a very nice combination of white with pink center. It is early flowering and similar to SuperTrouper® Oscar concerning the growth habit.

Another variety which can excellently be combined with our SuperTrouper® Oscar is our novelty SuperTrouper® Sammy. This variety shows a nice colour contrast in red with white border varying slightly depending on the temperatures.

An improvement of the old variety Dimple is our novelty SuperTrouper® Lucy. Advantages of this variety are its better colour, a bright and crimson red colour as well as the pleasant scent of the flower. This variety has a slightly stronger growth than the other introductions with later flowering. Special advantage of this variety is its rich flowering.
