The ‘Proven
Winners’ brand, launched in 1999, is today represented in Europe, USA, Japan
and S. Africa. It concerns a leading range of patio plants to provide spring
and summer colour. Their web site shows the exciting introductions for 2002.
These include Nemesia Karoo®, a blue and a pink flowered variety with a
sweet scent. The flowers are carried on loose airy stems and because they are
sterile the plants continue to flower and there are no unsightly seed pods. Of
particular note is the introduction of the Conchita® Doble Petunias bred by
Ushio Sakazaki, the same breeder to constitute the Surfinia series. Flowers are
fully double and there are so far 4 varieties in the series: dark-blue,
lavendar, pink and white. Plant habit is the same as the ordinary Conchita®
series: a uniform vigorous but controlled training habit. A deep violet
flower colour has also been added to the ordinary Conchit® series. Another
Japanese breeder Mr. Sekiguchi has created 5 beautiful Osteospermum
varietiezs in the Symphony® series: milk, cream, peach, orange, lemon all with
a contrasting violet blue centre. These plants produce masses of flowers all
summer and are tolerant of well hot conditions. Wolfram Gotz adds 2 new
varieties to the early flowering compact series of Fuchsias ‘Shandow Dancer®. These
plants produce small leaves and single flowers which are carried above the
leaves. The series now numbers 12 varieties. More news to come. www.pweurope.com E-mail: info@psenner.it |
