Hypericum as cut-flower
 

Royal Van Zanten working with Verheijen Breeding in Holland are supplying Hypericum young plants for use cut-flower production world-wide (excluding the Netherlands and Belgium) through their subsidiary Van Zanten Plants BV.  “Sunrise” is  one of 4 varieties already introduced which forms bright red and very decorative fruit after flowering. Cut-flower Hypericum is seen as a potential competitor for Alstroemeria in terms of turnover and area under cultivation, according to Royal Van Zanten The breeder is focusing on rust resistant varieties and new colours including orange and white (asopposed to the more normal yellow).  (Other breeders are working on the same subject in China utilizing the indigenous flora, especially of the Yunnan province Ndr). “Commercial Greenhouse Grower”. www.verheijenbreeding.nl, E-mail: info@verheijenbreeding.nl
