Trials in Germany undertaken jointly by Dr. Heiner Grüneberg at the Humbolt Universitat, Berlin, and by Peter Tiede-Arlt, at the Gartenbauzentrum at Straelen, suggest that Otacanthus caeruleus could be a good new addition to the cut-flower assortment for winter production. The plant is very easy to cultivate. The very beautiful mid-blue coloured flowers are composed of two petals with a small but marked white eye. Flowers have a long vase-life.
