June brings 2nd edition of Kenya’s successful IFTEX show

The official launch of Kenya’s upcoming IFTEX cut flower trade show took place at the end of April. During the introduction in the Jacaranda hotel in Nairobi, various industry VIPs were present to discuss the details of this year’s edition. Horticultural Crops development Authority MD Alfred Serem, Kenya Flower Council CEO Jane Ngige and HPP Exhibitions President Dick van Raamsdonk all briefed the press.
In just 2 years’ time Kenya’s flower industry has managed to build up a major flower trade fair and provided it with a regional function by also including exhibitors from neighboring flower-producing countries like Uganda and Ethiopia. By doing so the fair has managed to position itself as a prime sourcing place, where buyers from all over the world can see and buy flowers, speak face to face with growers and visit the farms where the flowers are produced.
Through this switch to actively promoting Kenyan flowers exports, the industry has raised itself to a new level; having gone from being a conservative flower producer selling through fixed channels, to a progressive flower producer exporting to numerous importers from all over the world.
This year’s second edition of the IFTEX trade fair will already be able to offer a complete overview of the current status of Kenyan flowers available for exports, since almost all flower farms will be present. It makes for the ideal opportunity for any international flower buyer to attend this June and source any Kenyan flowers they may need.
IFTEX 2013 will be held from June 5 to 7. Read all about the relatively new trade fair, organized by the well-known HPP Exhibitions, here.
