Germany: University organises rose symposium

The department of molecular plant breeding of the Leibniz Universität Hannover organises the 6th International Rose Symposium. It will be held from August 25th to August 30th 2013 in Hannover.
After the second symposium, which was held in France in 1995, it returns to central Europe close to major rose breeders, producers, and the world’s largest rose collections.
The symposium will cover all areas of rose research and cultivation practice with updates on the most recent developments in all fields of research on roses. Hosted in Hannover with its famous historical gardens and a center for horticultural research in Germany at the Leibniz University the symposium includes field trips to German rose breeders and one of the largest collections of cultivated and wild roses.
The symposium includes the following sessions:

- Postharvest physiology (Woltering, Wageningen University, Netherlands)
- Secondary metabolites and biochemistry (A. Vainstein, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel)
- Genetic resources (V. Wissemann, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen, Germany)
- Rose hips (H. Nybom, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden)
- Genetics and breeding (D. Byrne, Texas A&M University, USA)
- Rose diseases and pests (T. Debener, Leibniz University Hannover, Germany)
