New chemical thrip control
 
Spiess-Urania Chemicals GmbH are marketing a new chemical called ‘Conserve’ developed by Dow AgroSciences in Germany, registered as combatting thrips on ornamental crops under glass. The active ingredient ‘Spinosad’ is obtained from the soil bacteria Saccharopolyspora spinosa. Conserve is applied as a suspension of 120g spinosad per litre and plants. The product is easy to use, demonstrates high tolerance in cultivated plants and can also be used in IPM systems. www.spiess-urania.com
