Dutch plant breeder FGB is set to introduce a new exclusive pot plant at the forthcoming IPM exhibition in Germany. An offspring of Kalanchoe, it has decorative, rose-shaped flowers. The new product, called 'Calandiva', will be available in five colour shades. Some new bi-coloured Kalanchoe varieties have been developed; the pastel tinted Meru, red and white Toba and the pink variety Bess which has remarkable fringed flower margins. The pot Chrysanthemum range has been expanded with six different novelties developed by the American breeders Yoder. FGB will introduce Shining an anemone type with pearl coloured flower petals, resistant to white rust. Another anemone type is Universe with large yellow flowers. Four new colour mutants now make up a series with Grand Pink". All these varieties have a short response time of 47 days and are rust resistant. There are also some new bright coloured varieties of the single Fleury Family. Another noteworthy single Santini is the vigorous Maxey variety with a fresh orange colour and a deep green heart. All these Santini varieties are rust resistant. Saffier is a bronze coloured disbud with dark green foliage. The variety is easy to cultivate and handle. In the white range a semi-double spray Chrysanthemum named "Voyager" has good cultivation properties. FGB have also developed several green pompons, such as the vigorous Feeling Green and the Santini Froggy that have a strong branching habit and do not need to be topped. Finally, Double Wave®. is a new series of hanging Petunia with large flowers that comes in 5 varieties. The varieties are identical in growth habits and presentation. Peter van der Weijden.
