Zantedeschia hybrids grown in pots are finding an increasing market. From the planting of the tubers to the finished flowering pot plant ready for sale requires 9-13 weeks for 10-15cm pots. High natural light intensities in the winter in Southern Europe favours production also in the winter. Daytime temperatures should be kept within the 17°C-20°C range and 12°C-17°C during the night. To ensure abundant flowering and freedom from disease, tubers are normally pre-treated by suppliers with gibberellic acid (GA) and a fungicide-bactericide (typically this will be a solution of GA3-ProGibb or GA4+7Promalin) at 100 to 150ppm. This is usually combined with a copper-based fungicide such as Kocide. On receipt of the tubers they should be unpacked and left to ventilate for a day or two at 15-18°C to ensure any meachanical damage/abrasions dry off. Ant soft or rotting tubers should be discarded. If tubers are to be stored for longer than a month, this should be done at 7°C at 80* relative humidity with a good air circulation. The sizes (circumference) of available tubers are normally 12/14cm, 14/16cm, 16/18cm, 18/20cm and 20+cm. For pot culture in 12 - 15cm pots one large single tuber or two-three smaller tubers are planted. Crops can be grown pot thick until the final 2-3 wekks when they need spacing..
