The exchange of young landscape gardeners will be promoted this year again by the European Landscape Contractors Association – ELCA, as well as by the landscaping companies organised in the ELCA-Committee of Firms. More than 60 landscaping companies from Denmark, Germany, France, Ireland, Canada, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland have declared that they are willing to employ foreign young landscape gardeners for periods of three to 12 months. This means that over 110 landscape gardeners will be granted the possibility of working abroad after graduating successfully this year. The young landscape gardeners can expand and supplement their knowledge and skills on the one hand and on the other hand can get to know other cultures and languages better. Furthermore, with this further training abroad they also increase their employment potentials at home. To support the international exchange the ELCA issues a training passport for young landscape gardeners. This passport, developed by various EU councils, contains details about professional training and further education. It is issued to young landscape gardeners that have graduated and are interested in expanding their professional knowledge by working abroad. The passport is free of charge.
