Double Polyanthus

For growers and gardeners who want something a little different, the FI hybrid Polyanthus series 'You and Me' from K.Sahin Zaden BV is ideal for planting amongst other ordinary flowering Primula and Polyanthus varieties. The flower form of the 'You and Me' series can best be described as two flowers, a second one of the same size issuing from the corolla of the first. The double form is best viewed from the side because from above the uppermost flower commonly obscures the lower one. The series is hardy, has a rich fragrance and includes a wide range of colours including varieties with laced petals. The first varieties in the series to be released will be silver, cream, yellow, gold, red, purple and rose. A mixture containing some experimental colours will also be available (sky blue, gentian blue, pink, salmon and bright red). The series is said to make good spring bedding and container plants and can be grown as pot plants for forcing into flower for Christmas through to March.
