Australian bred Argyranthemum from the Sydney Plant
Breeding Institute are being trialed in an increasing number of centres across
Europe, USA and Australia. ‘Summit Pink’ emerged as a top performer
and was submitted in the Colarado State University trials in 2001 where it won
acclaim as the best introduction. It grows to a compact rounded habit, and produces
an abundance of perfectly shaped single pink flowers with a pronounced yellow
centre. Persistant breeding has introduced repeat flowering characteristic which
dramatically extends the season. The main flush comes in early spring and flowering
continues into early summer. Improved heat tolerance means that the plant enters
the autumn ready also for a secondary flush of flowers. Plant availability is
still limited. "Greenworld" Jeff Cooke E-mail ramm@lisp.com.au
