Experiments with 20 widely different plant species at genetic 
  and ecological levels, have shown that by reducing the Phosphorus availability 
  by 10-20 times, using a P-buffer technique, regulates growth by enhancing root 
  growth in relation to shoot growth and improves keeping quality of flowering 
  plants by delaying floral senescence. Results of trials of Compalox-P in Poinsettia 
  production have already been described in previous Clamer Informa News. In some 
  plants this buffer technique will substitute completely the use of growth regulating 
  chemicals while in others it will drastically reduce their requirement. The 
  technique is patented and the product is in its final phase of testing with 
  scientists, advisory services and growers in Denmark, UK, Germany, Holland, 
  Belgium, Norway and the USA after which time the product will be introduced
