K. Sahin, Zaden BV, single out this series of Viola due to its
particular growth habit and the fact that it has not yet been really promoted
in the Italian market, although it is under test by Planta and commercialized
by Domina. ‘Four Seasons’ represents a new class of mini, creeping Viola,
suitable for groundcober, hanging baskets, window boxes, containers and
bedding. It is extremely floriferous, three weeks earlier that the ‘Alpine’
series and two weeks earlier than the ‘Splendid’ series. Plants of the ‘Four
Seasons’ series are tolerant both to cold and to heat; in warmer climates they
flower abundantly in shade thus offering an alternative to Impatiens.
Depending on local climatic conditions they can be grown all year round. The
series comprises 9 varieties with a good contrast in colour: ‘Red Wind’,
‘Violet Wing’, Golden Yellow’, ‘Cooler’, ‘Lemon Drops’, ‘Black’, ‘Sky Blue’,
‘Beaconsfield Blue’, ‘Purple’ and a formula mix of all these colours. Many of
the varieties are scented or highly scented. www.sahin.nl
