Show gardens and sound

Fifty three show gardens at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show in England demonstrated many trends in garden design. A classical style Chinese garden designed by Xiang-Qiang Chen and Ting-Feng Liu in association with the Sky Landscape Group, Hangzhou., solicited a lot of interest from the philosphy attached to Chinese garden design. This garden will be reconstructed after the Show at the RHS Gardens, Wisley.

The ‘Giardino Sonoro La Limonaia dell’Imperialino (GSLI) is an Italian environmental design team based in Florence. The real novelty at the Show was their garden in which traffic noise and natural acoustic sources add to the botanical and lighting effects to enhance architectural and natural spaces. The sound sources were transparent ‘saucers’ suspended gave thje impression of ‘flying sounds’. www.giardinosonoro.it
