The ‘Karma’ series, introduced for 2002, includes five colours with blotch (blue, red, rose, white and yellow) plus rose, white and yellow as straight colours. The variety is vigorous with strong root development that ensures its over-wintering capability and early flowering in the autumn and early spring. Its large flowers are carried on short flower stems and the plants are compact and uniform within the series, growing to a height of 15-20cm in the garden. The ‘Karma’ series performed well in grower trials in Italy organized by Claudio Gambetta of BiGi Seeds. The new ‘Peace’ mix in the ‘Banner’ (‘Accord’) series and the ‘Hero’ Mixture in the ‘Universal’ series comprise clear red, white and blue colours — good for flag waving in certain countries. ‘Penny Violet’ is new to this Viola cornuta series, a unique colour — an intense velvet colour with yellow eye, good for pot culture or flower beds growing to a height of 10-15cm. www.goldsmithseeds.com E-mail: j.lippstreu@GoldsmithSeeds.nl
