Perennial Plant of the Year for 2002

Phlox paniculata ‘David’ has been nominated as the Perennial Plant of the year by the Penennial Plant Association, Columbus, Ohio, USA. This variety is praised for its bright white clusters of fragrant flowers and relatively higher resistance to mildew of any white flox varieties. It grows to a height of about 35-40ft with strong stems, producing large panicles of fragrant flowers from July through to September. Good companion plants to highlight contrasts of texture and colour are: Echinacea purpurea, Echinops ritro, Miscanthus sinensis, Aster laevis ‘Bluebird’. The Association has currently 2,300 members. www.perennialplant.org E-mail: ppa@perennialplant.org
