Ciccolella Bankkrupt tale unfolds in complex ways. |
|
The largest part of the insolvent Ciccolella International’s business will definitively cease to exist, but a few key parts will be taken over by other sector participants, bankruptcy curator Wouter Jongepier reports. The activities of Disva, one of the indoor plants businesses that falls under the Ciccolella Holding, will be taken up by Florimex Aalsmeer. 17 of Disva’s entrepreneurial staff members took it upon themselves to initiate that move, once the company’s bankruptcy had become official. The Disva name will be kept, albeit under the flag of the Florimex Group. A small part of importer/exporter Zurel will also be taken over by Florimex.
Diskoflora, another Ciccolella subsidiary dealing with indoor plants, will cease to exist however. The company did engage in takeover talks with certain unnamed prospective partners, but those have apparently not resulted in an agreement.
Ciccolella’s various cut flower-trading subsidiaries are not currently in discussions regarding continuation, trustee Jongepier indicates. Other traders might possibly be taking over those trade activities, he suggests. The tulip business of Sierex will be transferred to Paul Jong, for example. The fate of Top Flora appears to be uncertain.
In an unrelated story, Dutch flower auction FloraHolland is now reporting that certain ‘improper transactions’ have taken place in the final hours leading up to the liquidation of Ciccolella International. Unnamed traders and growers apparently performed a number of possibly ‘virtual’ last minute transactions with the company, just before an official debtors alert by the auction warned of its impending demise.
The flower auction cooperative is currently investigating those trades and asking the involved parties for proof that the transactions were in fact real. A few have already confessed, it is reported, and punitive measures are being considered.
